5 Easy Tips to Keep Your Home Clean Between Professional Visits

Hello to my fellow valley dwellers!

Keeping your home feeling fresh and tidy between professional cleanings doesn’t have to be a chore. With just a few quick habits, you can maintain that clean, calm feeling all week long — and make your next deep clean even more effective.

Here are 5 easy tips to help you stay on top of the mess in between visits from me from MHB Aide & Clean.

1) Put Your Home to Bed

Set a timer for 10, 15, or max 30 minutes before bed to reset your home. This includes picking up toys from your kids or pets. Toss that dirty laundry into the basket or better yet take it to the wash so it can start the first cycle in the morning. Put away dinner and wipe down the table and countertops. Try to get as many dishes in the washer before your timer is out. Once it goes off head to bed, but if you have the motivation to finish the item you are completing, DO IT! You'll wake up happier as you won't be woken by stepping on Legos or being hit by the smell of last nights dinner looming in your sink!

2) Wipe As You Go

Disinfecting surfaces not only helps keep your belongings lasting longer and looking brighter but protects you and your family! Wipe handles, light switches, and counters as often as you can remember. Place anti-microbial wipes or a spray out in a common area so you are more prompted to use it.

3) Drop Zones

I hate things on the counters as they can get wet from the sink or covered when cooking. Everything should have a place. When you get mail, have either a wall converted space for mail drop-off or set it in your office. Shoes should be tucked away in the closet a bin or in the mudroom. I loved the practice of leaving shoes near the door in a designated spot while I was in Japan. This meant less of outside being tracked through the home. Who knows what you stepped in. For kids, have either a hook system or prompt them to take their bags to their rooms. If it has a spot, you'll spend less time wondering where an item is!

4) One Small Step

Each day pick a small item to clean or de-clutter. The "junk drawer" is just a toss all nightmare. Thinking of buying groceries? Wipe your fridge shelves down between Costco trips. You'll feel more on top of the miscellaneous tasks and at the end of the day if everything else didn't go to plan, at least you got one small thing done. Drapes are a catch all for dust and hair, so take them down once a month and wash them, and breathe the new air!

5) Pet Hair Control

Love giving pets to your furry friend? How about tossing in a brushing session every couple days, especially in the summer. This helps reduce the likelihood of them overheating, and helps with the shedding. Lint rollers stationed by the door or in your car helps you look good on the go. Once a week, depending on how many fur babies, vacuum the couch with a handheld or lint roll to pick up those hairs before they embed in the fibers.

Bonus Tip: Let Us Handle the Big Stuff

You don’t have to do it all alone! Whether it’s a deep clean, pet care, or extra hands around the house, MHB Aide & Clean is here to help you feel supported and stress-free.
